Elantra N ?

We've seen the Hyundai i30N which isn't bound for NA, but if they rebadged it as the Hyundai Elantra N, would you be interested in one?

2.0L 4 pot turbo
247hp (optional performance pack increases that to 274hp)
Six-speed manual transmission only
0-60mph in 6.4 seconds (6.2 for the performance pack)

Add to the above with a crazy amount of aesthetic upgrades and the doo-dads.

Check it out!

If you wouldn't want one, are there at least any parts you'd want to be able to buy for your GT Turbo?

I'd definitely be interested...but I wonder how they'd price that in the US. Without the performance pack, you're looking at engine power that's on par with the Focus ST & VW Golf R, and that's a fairly wide price range ($25k to $35k). If Hyundai could price it around $30k, then you'd be nuts not to consider it, especially if the Focus and Golf are on your short list.

I'm not a huge fan of the Veloster styling, but I am interested in seeing if they come out with a N version of that car for NA markets, is it going to have roughly the same performance stats...and where would it be priced?

interesting questions...

I just got even more interested because an Alfa Romeo 4C is interested in this Hyundai
Hyundai is at a point where they could as for as much as the ST. Personally it think they should undercut both and offer an even higher performing trim that is a few grand more.

274hp with performance package? I'd definitely be interested depending on how much something like that would cost. Most people don't look towards Hyundai for performance, but an N model could change that.

Yes, that power with the sort of weight we're dealing with translates into a hatch that will move well regardless of how that power is distributed along the power band. If it was putting out lower 200's then i would be concerned about the power band

Perhaps Hyundai will price it under the Focus ST & VW Golf R to draw in buyers from the more well known models. I actually like how the i30N looks compared to the other two, subtly hints at its capabilities.

Only way they can leverage price is if its a big difference which won't be the case but they can put in a lot of value. It helps that they're launching the N brand which could mean a lot of firsts for a brand and model like this.
