Is the 1/2 inch 3M tape wide enough to get that job done? Thanks in advance

I think it may not be quite wide enough. You will have to more than likely have to go wider and trim with a sharp Exacto-knife.

No problem at all! A downpipe would be a very solid addition too. How was it installing the LED lights?

I installed what are likely the same footwell lights and it's easy as ****. Just stick on with 3M or velcro and hide your cable.
