What it sounds like from inside the cabin while driving:

The exhaust sounds great! Did you go custom? Is that just a catback or did you replace the down pipe too?

That does sound pretty incredible, and what else was done aside from a muffler delete? Love that there isn't much drone in the cabin either.

The drone is definitely manageable by simply shifting more liberally. I like to keep the revs high, though. I'm a three pedal guy, and I like to "drive" the car - not have the car drive me. It's not really loud unless I'm downshifting and/or accelerating, and when that is happening - I really like/want to hear the car. Makes me feel more connected to the experience.

And yeah, went custom. There's a local shop here in my city, and they do great work. We cut the original pipe right after the resonator/cat/sensors, and then again right before the muffler. Removed and replaced with larger pipe, and then Y'd that pipe at/near around where it would have connected back up to the original muffler. From the Y - two 2.5" pipes go to the tips.

If the noise/drone ever gets too bad. I still have the original muffler which can be added back. I could add a performance muffler. I could reduce the tip size. I could reduce the piping size. Lots of options.

I see you got your gt from Keyes. That’s where we got my wife’s at. Are you local to this area? We live in Panorama City. I got my genesis exhaust done at super tuning in Van Nuys. Was thinking about taking our’s there but if you don’t mind sharing where you got yours. Thank you and once again sounds great! Reminded me of my genesis just not as loud. I can only imagine what it would sound like with the primary cat deleted.

I don't mind sharing I live in Moreno Valley. The local Hyundai dealerships to me all failed. I won't bore you with the details, but Keyes was the first place that didn't lie, and/or waste my time. In fact, they even offered to pay for my gas before I drove out (if whatever reason the deal we basically agreed to on the phone couldn't be reached. Even through they're 70+ miles away from me, they have a lifetime customer now.)

So, anyway, here in Moreno Valley there's a performance muffler shop that has been around for a while. Found out about them from neighbors on my street. They couldn't stop saying enough great things about this place, so I checked them out, and was not disappointed. Super stoked to be supporting local shops/business, too.

That’s awesome to hear I’m glad it all worked out for you. They came through for the wife and I as well. Coming from a semi-heavily modded genesis coupe, I am beyond impressed with this Elantra. We go and visit my mom on the weekend out in Ontario. We might have to sneak into your neck of the woods and visit that muffler shop 😬
