2018 OEM tire/road noise.

I just picked up a 2018 Elantra GT and wow, the howl from the back tires is terrible. Stock tire size 225x45/17 Nexens. Is it possible a better tire will help?

Yeah, for sure. I personally use the Continental Extremecontact DWS06+ and they're much quieter than the OE tires. Better grip to boot, though my tires are 225/40/18

I had HanKook OEM tires. I should have switched them way sooner. They were loud, too, and had no feed back. I could not tell if I was grippin or slipppin. I have Azenis now and it's like a different car.

I was looking at these exact tires. The OEM hankooks do not appear to be in for the long haul and the sidewall just cracked on me on one of them that I have a donut right now. They are also kind of noisy on the highway as well. Noticeable enough. Given what happened to the first tire, thinking I might replace all four. Only 21k on them. you like this continental tire?
Definitely. Good grip in wet and dry (snow is eh, but these cars aren't great in snow to begin with), low road noise, the only downside is they will wear quickly if you don't keep on top of your alignment.

Thanks for the feedback. Any other tiresn you were looking at? These oem hankooks were awful in snow, but you are right, with a low ground clearance, the car isn't great. Was hoping for something decent for snow too just in case. Interesting that the continentals wear quickly. Their rubber compounds are usually pretty hard and they generally last a long time. With Alignment costs the way they are, might have to factor it into overall tire cost. I can't believe what some places charge.

Thanks again

To be fair, I do drive a lot for my job, and most of it is on some rough back roads; also I have a very spirited driving style, so I'm probably an outlier when it comes to tire wear.
