Dislike: horn is too quiet (mods?)

I almost got creamed on the highway this morning and the horn was clearly inaudible to the idiot who almost wrecked me (momentarily in his blindspot, car to my left and directly behind). I was rattled afterwards, nearly being pinned into another car on the highway isn't exactly fun. Being unable to get the other driver's attention made it much worse. It seemed like no one heard my horn and even I could barely hear it.

Is there an easy way to install a louder horn and maybe a part recommendation? After this experience I would honestly like to just bring the car to the dealer and pay cash to have a new horn installed asap.

I've heard good things about Hella Horns.

Funnily enough, I was looking at horns today as well. Unfortunately, you'd have to splice the wiring to the horn (Not so hard, because you only have a + and a - cable); because Hyundai makes the horns actually plug in to part of the harness instead of using covered spade connectors.
From what my parts diagram show is the '19 N-Line (My VIN inputted into the system) only has the Low Horn (probably why it's wimpy), which is mounted on the Radiator Support on the driver's side (LH). Hyundai doesn't offer the opposite side to connect a pair of wires to have as a "Plug & Play", but who knows you might be able to find one.

Attached is the Horn connector picture off Hyundai's Repair Harness List, and the connection diagram.

There's a hella horn pair on eBay that has this connection built into it each one, but that doesn't help us if we are missing one of the wiring plugs.

You might be able to use a High/Low Single Horn from Hella. Just use the one plug/adapter.

Do you know where the horn is currently installed? Mostly curious if I need to pull the bumper...

You do, have to pull the bumper. It's on the Driver's side, attached to the Radiator Support.

Probably a bit "verboten" to link to another forum, but I upgraded the horn in my N-Line. Much better. For some reason, the '18 Sport had regular dual high and low tone horns... but the N-Line only got a single low-tone. Makes no sense.

I upgraded it to a pair of FIAMM 128dB horns. Huge improvement. Scares the **** out of most people. Mission Accomplished. Part of the reason why I like the FIAMM so much, is because they have a very "American" sound to them.

Thanks! I often forget that forum exists.

Do you feel like it is essential to wire directly to the battery (and therefore through the relay) or was it an artifact of accidentally grounding against the body? I'd personally rather get a smaller horn pair.

That forum is fine, but it's not very heavily trafficked. The GT forum especially, usually days in-between posts.

It can be directly wired and work fine. The extra unintended ground is the only reason it didn't work the first time. By the time I had discovered the extra ground point, I was already halfway done with wiring the relay. -and it doesn't hurt, so, I just finished it that way.

If I were to do it all over again, from scratch, with a different car (and a little more patience) I would find the part number or connector type for the factory horn, and spliced the horn wiring into it so it's just plug-and-play and has a factory look.The factory harness -IS- still intact on mine, and I can reverse it and plug the stock horn back in should I feel so inclined.
