DTC issue

Hey guys I own a 2018 Elantra gt sport with 47k miles on it. I was backing out of my driveway this morning, shifted into drive, and tried to move forward the car had an enormous slip and bang. The car drove in drive but slipped pretty bad when changing gears I went back home and when I tried to get back out to go to the dealer, the car has no reverse and an engine light. I still ended up dropping it off at the dealer and hoping for the best. The car still has its warranty and completely stock. I was hoping to mod it after the warranty goes. I personally think one of the clutches is messed up in my 7 speed auto. Im just curious to get an educated guess from you guys here in the forum.
many thanks!

It appears as though you are the first to experience that issue with a DCT transmission. Please keep us posted as to what the fix is. Hopefully the dealer will cover all expenses and make it good again.

Yea I was trying to see if anybody could relate to my issue. So the update is that I’m getting a complete transmission replacement. Hyundai approved the warranty work and now it’s the waiting game. Don’t know the specifics on what exactly happened to the transmission. I’ve heard that Hyundai doesn’t fix transmissions, they just replace them. If it is an internal issue where mass tear down is required they save the hassle. Also keep an eye out for strange low speed shuddering and unusual pressure releases on your car. Car could be warning you of what’s to come. I was thinking about that the other day like how my car was basically acting fishy and I thought it wasn’t something to be worried about. Now I know better lol.

Thanks for the update and ominous warning signs.
I had to get my DCT replaced, with only 34000 kms on it. Contacted hyundia Canada and had it replaced under warranty
