I've been noticing recently (2018 elantra gt sport @38k miles) a strong gasoline smell from the oil on the dipstick. The coloration also has been turning more darker-brown colored, as of late(even after an oil change). The GDI engine really does seem to end up contaminating the engine oil. I do a penzoil platinum synthetic oil change every 5k miles. Anything else I can do, to address the problem that I'm having?...or is it just an inherent part about having a hyundai with a gdi engine? 😐

Common, plenty of threads about it. It's a DI engine. Most people install catch cans.
