Hey all, I picked up a GTS about a week ago and am pretty disappointed with the lack of an active on-line community. It looks like the Elantra PD subforum of hyundai-forums has a few folks posting, and there are a handful in the elantrasport forum, but its pretty dead over hear. I will post on both of those forums and try to get the GT folks over here. There are very few of us and its not good to be split between multiple forums that don't really focus on our specific cars.

Please do the same and encourage people in other forums to come over here so that we can try to build a better knowledge base in on this site. Also, I am not at all affiliated with this site, I am just looking to see this community grow a little bit. All other cars I've had before had good on-line community support and I'd like to see the same here.

Nice to have dedicated forum for Elantra GT.
Lack of people/members/owners is most likely as not many folks are willing to spend >35K CAD$ for 'small hyundai'.
And I can see zillion new Civics on road but about ZERO GTs. Every few months Hyundai Canada increases their 'special offer' (currently $1500) price reduction but to no avail.
I still believe GT Ultimate (in Canada top model) is a very nice car with tech you have to pay thousands and thousands for other brands (just look at Lexus/BMW/MB - show off cars).
Reason I am not currently driving GT Ultimate is that none of the dealers in my area has one for test drive and I am not buying if if I cannot test drive it first. Thus lose-lose situation...

yeah, I am in the US. You can get a pretty good deal on a sport with tech package (top of the line in the US) provided you can find one. There are plenty of base GT and a handful of GT Sport models around, but the GT Sport w/ tech is like hen's teeth. I love this car and am amazed at how much it offers for the actual price paid. No civic can come even close to offering this.

Ah, you posted over on the ElantraSport didnt you? I popped over there looking for parts ideas for my 18 GT.
Yup, I am trying to get all the GT folks to come over here. I am doing it for selfish reasons (I don't want to sort through 3 forums trying to find info on something a year from now haha). I think the ElantraSport community is pretty good and has a lot of info that is applicable to us also, but they don't have an area specific to the GT.

Same here... I don't understand why dealers aren't carrying them. I wonder if there's a way to get them to bring one in. My dealer just told me they'd let me know when they have one. It seems they have no plan on getting one though.

hmm... must be a Canada thing? Here in the US I went to multiple dealers and the selection was very limited, but lots of cars in stock. Most of them were base cars, with each dealer having maybe 1 sport. None of the dealers had a sport with tech package in the color I wanted, but all of them were willing to bring one in for me. I was able to negotiate on price quite a bit too. We agreed on the deal, I waited about 4 days, and my car was delivered.

Hyundai doesn't seem to be doing anything to sell this car here. I have yet to see commercials or advertising of any kind for the GT. All Facebook even seems to show is the Santa Fe, Sonata and Tucson. I didn't even know it existed until I was researching the Veloster (I never would have considered the previous generation Elantra GT). They need to step up their game and show off this little gem. It may not be the top of the pile, but it definitely gives some competition to the other hatches out there with a better price point, reliability, and warranty than most.

New owner here and this place is a little sleepy. Particularly compared to the Harley Forum I'm on.
I looked at the other Hyundai Forums before joining this one in hopes of getting specific info. I love mine so far and agree that Sport models are difficult to find. Only 6 available in the Denver area.
The Focus Forum I was on before was also quite busy. Perhaps this being a relatively new model is another reason for lack of activity as there seems to be very little aftermarket stuff available. JMHO.

Likely when the N-line and real N is released here in North America, this forum will see more traffic. By the way, just picked up my GTS a couple days ago and think it's a fantastic little car so far. Got it to replace my Subaru Outback as my regular daily.
