Is there really a difference in rear sub-frames from the base to sport? I wouldn't imagine the different suspension would change frame mount points for the hitches. You might have to cut some fascia to allow for the hitch tube to be exposed, but I would be surprised to see them making 2 different rear ends for the GT's.

I believe the issue is the shape of the flanges of the hitch. Because the regular GT has a single exhaust, the flanges are asymmetrical. With the GT Sport having a dual exhaust setup, the flanges would need to be identical or would just need to be different than the regular GT hitch in order to clear the dual exhausts.
