I've been searching forever to buy elantra Gt and finally found what I'm looking for. Love the body style and accessories, but unfortunately from time to time I hear of possible engine problems with the turbo motors.
Im reluctant to spend so much for the used car market but do like the hatch.
My question is can you guys give me any insight of the possible longevity of these motors or any know problems. I read 2.0 had possible ring issues like the konas.
Just need to understand the 1.6 turbos.

The car is a 2020 elantra gt turbo 1.6 with tech package. 27k miles. Price is high but that's the market I guess

No recalls on these cars. I'm at 54,000 miles on my 2019. Oil changes with the best synthetic at 4,000 miles I only put 93 octane in but it will run on 87. So far no issues the car is a hell of a lot of fun to drive it sure loves 4,000-5,000 rpm if you're on the freeway and down shift to 5th look the hell out when you give it gas it flies! Hyundia spec'd this car out very well I'm sure they lost money on them I paid 3,000 off of retail when I bought it new in 2019.

I have a 2020 EGT N with DCT. The turbo has been trouble free unless I try to do a crazy launch and then it overboosts. It also did it twice on the freeway but not lately. I just had to stop and restart. I have 40 K on on it and it is doing well. I just wish I could get an accessory hitch receiver for it.
