Since I have been using a lot of octane booster, I may want to replace, clean my spark plugs. With that, does anyone know the correct gaping and or could recommend a top-notch set of spark plugs? I am approaching about 8K and since I have a tune and a custom catless exhaust, I figured I should get my hands on a new set of spark plugs.

If you'd like to stay OEM, our 1.6T GT N-Lines use NGK IR Spark Plugs. OEM#:18849-08080. They have a gap of .7mm-.8mm per Hyundai's Tech Manual.
Sxth normally has the HKS M40/45XL Spark Plugs, however it looks like they are all sold out. The 45XLs have a Heat Range of 9 (They Run Cooler, which is "better" for Turbocharged vehicles). However the 40XLs are a Heat Range of 8, which is the same as NGK's stock plugs. E3 currently doesn't offer any plugs for our vehicles (I heard really good things about them). I'd stay away from AutoLite or Champion Spark Plugs, but if you could find Bosch or Denso.

I have narrowed it down to HKS 50003-M45XL. But darn they are expensive!!!!
I know that over on the facebook forum people got into a big discussion after I installed my AFE Scorcher but I'm not totally convinced this expense is worth it.

For my tune at least(30hp).

Yours might be a lot higher, especially with the downpipe,intake and exhaust.

I have been asking around and looking for deals and the best price I can find shipping included is getting close to $180. My mechanic who races cars said a spark is a spark and there is a lot of hype around some spark plugs. So within reason, I may look for a less expensive alternative. The thing is, I have been running a lot of octane boost, so I fear my plugs have the orange/rust tinge to them. So when I take my car in to get lowered, I want spark plugs on hand so when they check them and need some, I have then on the ready. So if anyone could recommend an alternative that would be great.

2) Why do you fear the octane booster is harming your plugs?
3) How many miles on the plugs?
4) What do you expect to gain by buying the most expensive spark plugs available?

1) Why are you running "a lot" of octane booster? - Pretty much self-explanatory.
2) Why do you fear the octane booster is harming your plugs? - It's known to cause issues with spark plugs. Google it.
3) How many miles on the plugs? about 8K.
4) What do you expect to gain by buying the most expensive spark plugs available? I may not get the HKS, I ordered NKGs. I have them in case my plugs are messed up from the octane boost.

The idea is that a lot of people running a tune recommend buying the M45XL plugs, including the tuning shops.... ie: to prevent knock.

Someone on the Kia Optima forum (After searching on Google) said they did about a half turn after it was tight. However Hyundai's torque specs are 10.9 - 18.00 lb. ft. (14.7 - 24.5 Nm). So maybe around that spec.

Pulling this thread back from the grave, does anyone know what we should torque the HKS M45XL's to?
If you look on the packet the spark plugs came in it states.

"Tighten the spark plug with fingers first. Then screw about 1/2 - 2/3 turn with plug wrench. <Tightening torque: 20-25 Nm>"
