Hey guys,

Has anyone tried doing a valved exhaust set up?

I don't always want my car to be obnoxious, buuuuut sometimes I do. So I feel like it'd be the perfect set up.

If anyone has a valved set up or has seen any that would work for our cars, I'd love to see the set up and where it was purchased from.

Back in my previous life in the Veloster world there was a guy in our club with an electronic exhaust cut out. His car went from sounding bone stock to super aggressive with the flip of a switch.

This is pretty sweet. Only problem is finding one of those mufflers. Can only imagine the price and the rarity.

@Kovy What do you think about this OEM Variable Exhaust Valve Muffler, it is for the Veloster N but with some welding work from a shop should fit fine. Getting the switch part / wiring done to open and close the valve is what I'm not confident on...

Quiet but still nice sounding when the valve is closed. But it's a ripper when you open up the valve... Best of both worlds..

I'm also sure it's available in the US Hyundai Elantra GTS/N-Line Downpipe Back With Varex Exhaust Valve

I would just like to add my input after having the VN valved setup for a while now. The Varex system is currently $690 shipped with tax from Summit Racing here in the US. Having completed my DIY VN setup for around $500 I would still say I am beyond satisfied with the sound from the VN muffler. It is a very labor intensive job to create the valve though along with the labor to get the muffler to fit correctly. I still would recommend the VN route if you are able to get a free or dirt cheap VN muffler and think you can come out of the entire project for under $500 or so. This likely means doing the wiring and electronics labor yourself. If you are not comfortable doing all this and cannot keep the costs of the project below $500 in total, I think the Varex system would be the way to go. It is easily the best option for cost benefit at $690 all in and having the valved control.
